Yuba City Fire Department
“Code 3 Clowns”
Providing fire safety education, injury prevention messages and life safety skills are the goals of the “Code 3 Clowns” school education program. The team members consist of fire inspector Jesse Frias, fire engineer Drew Crawford, Fire engineer Eric England, Firefighter Michelle Dominguez, and firefighter Shane Lawson. They present their safety messages in a fun and interactive way. The show involves creative props, funny characters, and a simulated house fire to teach kids the importance of being fire safe.
The “Code 3 Clowns” provide fire safety education to both the public and private schools within the Yuba City Fire Department’s protection area. The shows are directed toward K-3rd grades and reach a total of 1600 children each year. This year the show concentrated on kitchen safety and followed NFPA’s theme, watch what you heat. Other topics include bicycle safety, crawl low in smoke, 911, 2 ways out, smoke detectors and firefighters are our friends.
Over 250,000 children are burned every year in America. Fire is one of the leading causes of death in the home for young children and 1/3 of the children that died, actually started the fire. The safety and well being of school age children is important to the Yuba City Fire Department, especially when it comes to their knowledge of important fire and safety skills.
The “Code 3 Clowns” perform during the fall months. For more information or to book a show, contact our administration office at (530)822-4686.
